Caught two more Kennedy Center performances including:
The Washington Chorus: Wachner’s Come My Dark Eyed One & Mozart’s “Great” Mass in C minor and
National Symphony Orchestra: Midori, violin, plays Britten.
I will admit some of the modern pieces were hard to digest. There was a loud percussion section of Stravinsky in the NSO performance that had the baby kicking hard. But Midori was a maestra of her instrument. And we quite enjoyed a short piece by Osvaldo Golijov. Love him. He is actually a member of the Silk Road Ensemble. And the piece we heard from him sounded quite Alberto Iglesias-esque in some parts.
